Reports To: Head of Boxing
Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Boxing Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in boxing, excellent coaching skills, and a commitment to helping members achieve their fitness and athletic goals. As a Boxing Coach, you will be responsible for designing and leading boxing training sessions (group, semi-private, private), providing individualized coaching, and fostering a positive and motivating training environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training and Coaching:
- Design and lead group boxing classes and individual training sessions.
- Provide instruction on boxing techniques, strategies, and conditioning.
- Develop personalized training plans for members based on their goals and fitness levels.
- Monitor and assess the progress of members, providing feedback and adjustments as needed.
- Member Engagement:
- Create a welcoming and inclusive training environment for all members.
- Build strong relationships with members to understand their needs and motivations.
- Encourage and motivate members to reach their full potential.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all training sessions are conducted safely and in accordance with gym policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized training area, ensuring equipment is in good working condition.
- Monitor members for signs of injury or fatigue and provide appropriate guidance.
- Professional Development:
- Stay current with the latest trends and developments in boxing and fitness training.
- Attend workshops, seminars, and other training opportunities to enhance coaching skills.
- Share knowledge and best practices with other coaches and staff.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other coaches and staff to coordinate training schedules and member services.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of training programs and gym initiatives.
- Support the promotion of gym events, programs, and membership drives.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a boxing coach.
- Open class amateur boxer.
- Must have valid working visa/permanent residence/Canadian citizen.
- Strong knowledge of boxing techniques, conditioning, and training principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire members of all fitness levels.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time or part-time position based in Port Coquitlam, BC or East Vancouver, BC.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support member training schedules.
- Physical role requiring standing, moving, and demonstrating boxing techniques for extended periods.
