May 10th - 1st Migrant Health Fair

February 21, 2019

In collaboration with Watari Counselling & Support Services Society, we provide a health fairs for migrant workers in and around the Lower Mainland. These migrant workers often feel isolated, lacking resources and/or language skills. Their days are filled solely with long hours performing physically taxing work in nearby farms. Many have been exploited or manipulated on their journey to Canada. Watari helps connect them with necessary resources, including counselling and immigration services. We saw a lack of accessible health and fitness services available to those in need, and hope this is one of the ways in which we can help address this gap.

We are seeking community partners who can offer their services to help improve the migrant worker’s quality of life. Please contact us if you can offer health services such as physical therapy, dentistry, massage therapy, or acupuncture, haircuts, etc, during the health fair. We are also looking for any Spanish speaking volunteers who would be able to assist in translating and participating on the day. If you’d love to contribute, please join us in doing more in our communities.
